Ok, I Have To Apologize!

In my last post, I made mention of the fact that I could not believe anyone would need such common sense instructions as to wait till the power came back on, in order to turn on a coffee maker when the power is out.  I also pointed out that my very own sister asked me to check my computer when MY power was out.  I should have known that instructions such as those previously mentioned, are indeed necessary!  I should have, like really folks, how much more proof did I need?

Apparently I needed more.  My Grams called me earlier.  She was worried that there was something wrong with her brother-in-laws phone.  She had tried to call him no less than 6 times, and kept getting the same message.

I should have asked her what the exact words were, but nooooo, I didn't think of that!  I asked her what the problem was!  BIG mistake, here folks, I know better, I do, honestly!  Please believe me!?!

Ok, so you don't believe me, I don't either, so I can't blame you alright!?!

Anywhoo's-it, Grams says that a woman keeps telling her she's dialed the wrong number.  So I ask what number are you dialing?  She reads off the number to me.  It's the right number.  Ok, there's something fishy going on here!  How can you dial the same number that I have, and be told it's the wrong number?  I tell Grams to hang up the phone, I'll make the call and find out what's wrong.  She says thank you.

So I call my great-uncle, and this is the message I get "Hi, you've reached so-'n'-so.  I'm not home right now, so please leave a message after the beep."  I leave a message saying that Grams is trying to get ahold of him, but keeps being told she's dialed the wrong number, hense my calling, can you please call her to let her know you're ok?

I call Grams back, and tell her this.  She tells me that's the same message she gets.  WHAT!!! You get a message that he's not home, and you tell me that it's the wrong number?  Geez!!!

I don't argue with her, that would be rude, I just tell her that I asked him to call her.  She says, get this, she had talked to him this MORNING and that he didn't have time to chat at that moment, BUT that he'd call her back later this EVENGING!  Grams called me at 6, the evening hadn't even technically started yet!  I called my great-uncle for no reason!  Ok, so he's a sweet man, and I love him to death, he's one of the very few family members I have any respect for.  But common, if someone says they'll call later that night, give 'em a chance to do it before you start harrassing them and then having your granddaughter harrass them for you!

I have got to learn patience in dealing with people who just don't get it.  Honestly though, I just don't get why other's can't seem to get the simple parts of life.  Some day's it's just really hard to be me.

  1. LOL!
But still, better solving the problem twice than not solving it at all, right?

  2. Skye your Gramdmother is a Ditz on her best days, when she gets altzheimers it will be an improvement.

Hell her I.Q is about equal to her shoe size and we both know she has small feet.

  3. You've got a point there Minka!

  4. I know Silv, I don't believe she made it through grade 4. I'm just glad she doesn't do any canning or stuff like that anymore! When you start pouring bleach into the pickles instead of vinegar, you've got a problem!

  5. she didn't do THAT! Or did she?

The instructions probably have to be that way to avoid law suits- "the instructions don't say I cannot use the drier for drying pets" type, you know.

  6. Yes Minka, she really has done that, not once, not twice, but indeed thrice! It was the 3rd time around that she decided it was perhaps time to quit canning! I don't suppose you've ever seen ghost white dills, have you?

You're probably right with that lawsuit comment, some people would try anything and blame anyone but themselves for their stupidity!

  7. Old people don't get technology and the concept of being busy. And they are just never going to.
Good luck with the patience thing! ;-)

  9. OMG.
Well, hopefully your uncle will read this blog post and get some humor out of it.

Maybe you could print it out for him, along with an apology note. LOL! :)

  10. I also meant to say that my grandmother has Alzheimers, so I know what it's like to see older relatives doing freaky things that make no sense.
    Hang in there.

  11. oh grandmas... sigh.

my grandma insists she is a Wii bowling champion at her assisted living complex... yet, when she plays it at my uncles house she can't figure out how to release the button.

    interesting.

  12. No Janna, my great-uncle won't be reading this. Well, not unless I do as you've suggested and print it up for him anyway. To be honest, none of my family know that I blog, and I don't have much interest in telling them that I do. I'm rather sick and tired of the preaching I get whenever they think of me being on the internet. It's rather annoying coming from a family that thinks the internet is from the devil.

Thanks for that Janna, I know Grams doesn't have alzeimers, at least not yet, but she may be in the early stages for all I know. She's just never really been all that bright, and has always done crazy things that make no sense to anyone. It's just getting worse now that she's getting older!

  13. That is interesting Blunt Delivery, and yet not so far fetched. It's different for seniors playing a game with family, they want to impress everyone so much that they over complicate things and sometimes get confused. But, when they're playing with friends where they live, it's just a game, they're relaxed and have fun.

By the way, welcome to my blogger home :)

  14. you mean i'm not suppose to use my dryer to dry off my pets? When did this happen?

  15. I don't think not leaving a message is exclusive to Gram's. I don't know how many times I've heard - I tired to get you but your phone was busy. I say, I'm sorry, I must have missed you message. They stare blankly at me- I ask - did you leave a message? They say No - nothing else, still staring - just No. Grrrrr !

  16. My aunt used to VISIT me and omplained wen she didn't find me home.

She learned to phone now. But it took time.

  17. LOL KJ, somehow I don't think you ever stuck your pets in the dryer to dry them off. However, I do believe you'd use a blow dryer on them, which isn't such a bad thing :D

  18. Welcome to my blogger home Kate! And you're right, not leaving messages is certainly not exclussive to Grams. I actually get it a lot, if I'm on the phone, my machine automatically pics up when someone else calls. I've even had the hospital refuse to leave a message for me to call them back, how sad is that? (I know who it is because I have call display)

  19. Oh, don't you just hate that Minka? My mother used to show up whenever she pleased as well, she doesn't anymore either, she's finally learned, but the learning is a blog post all-in-of-itself :D

I've decided to use comment moderation simply because that way, I never miss a new comment on my posts. I'm really quite forgetful and tend to not remember how many comments had been in each post the last time I looked, so please bare with me and my memory lapses :)
