How Much Water Do You Drink?

I don’t remember how the topic came up, but quite some time ago I was chatting with a co-worker about drinking water. I told her that I generally drink 4 to 6 cups a day, and these aren’t small cups either, they’re big-ass beer mugs! She asked me how I could drink so much water, and I’m thinkin’ it’s not really all that much when it comes right down to it. I drink coffee in the mornings and then drink water the rest of the day. Unless of course Silv and I buy some beer, scotch or wine, then I drink that along with the water.

Anyway, she’s telling me that her doctor wants her to start drinking more water as well. She was having some kind of problem and having more fluids would help relieve that problem. She told me though that she just couldn’t bring herself to drink that much water.

I’m wondering what the heck was her problem? I had already seen her drink 3 cups of water just that morning while I had only put back 2 cups of coffee! She asked me how I managed to drink so much water in any given day and if that didn’t make me sit on the pot all day long, because it sure made her do so!

4 to 6 cups of water made her sit on the pot all day? Why? I didn’t get it, I just didn’t understand why she couldn’t drink that amount of water. She told me that she even had her alarm set to wake her during the night so she could drink more water. I’m like WHAT, that’s just insane!

Finally I got down to the crux of the matter and damn did I laugh! When I got myself under some semblance of control I explained during bursts of laughter and giggles, that she wasn’t supposed to drink fourTEE-six glasses of water but four TO six. She didn’t quite see the humor as I did, but she did give me a sheepish look and fessed up to having been drinking 23 glasses a day. Jesus I laughed till I cried and then I laughed some more. She wasn’t very happy with me laughing so much, but I just couldn’t help it.

She quit work and moved to Alberta shortly after that, I don’t know if it was because of how embarrassed she was or if it really was because she met some guy on the internet, either way, I haven’t seen hide nor hair of her since. Probably better that way as I’d never let her live this down :D

    Heh heh heh Just kidding.

And for the record, I'm always making weenie mistakes like that woman...fortysix for four to six.

I can totally see why she thought that! heh heh

  2. You wouldn't? Is that how you are??? Oh, dear!

I had to laugh, too, you know. Too bad she didn't. She could have wet her pants from laughter - it would have made her feel so much better, I bet! In more than just one way :))

    Cheers!

  3. At least you can understand why it's so funny Quirky! To be honest, I make the same kind of silly mistakes as well, I believe we all do at some point in our lives, but it does take someone special that can also appreciate the humour of it :)

Oh Minka, of course I wouldn't tease her about it constantly, only when she was having something to drink. I'd then be forced to ask if she managed to get past glass 23 yet :D

  4. Embarrassing mistake? Yes. But you have to be able to laugh at yourself! That was funny!

  5. But wouldn't you laugh at yourself, had it been you? I know I would! People should be able to make fun of themselves as well as others - but when it's about yourself, it can be so much more fun!!! Don't you agree?

  6. Thanks Reffie, I agree you do have to be able to laugh at yourself, it's the only way to go :D

Minka, of course I'd laugh had it been me! I've always said, if you can't laugh at your own mistakes you have no right to laugh at anyone elses! And so I truly live by that code and totally take advantage of laughing at myself. In fact, I take it so far, that people aren't able to laugh at me for things anymore, they are forced to laugh with me. A truly big difference between the two and such an important thing for people to learn! Which is why I try so hard to teach that simple fact of life to my kids.

When I was a kid and got my first pimple, I was worried all the kids in school would laugh at me like they did to everyone else who had pimples. So, what I did, was as soon as I got to school, I said "Hey look at this big ole zit on my nose, I can play Rudolf in the christmas play!" Everyone laughed with me at the joke and no one laughed at me, so I hadn't gotten embarrassed over it. Something many kids of today could do with being able to understand. It's so much more fun to be able to laugh with someone, than it is to make them feel embarrassed by laughing at them :)

As for needing a counseling couch, well, I've got plenty of couches. If you wish to use one for counseling, feel free to do so! Although I must admit, I see you being quite sarcastic and trying hard not to laugh as you were typing :)

I've decided to use comment moderation simply because that way, I never miss a new comment on my posts. I'm really quite forgetful and tend to not remember how many comments had been in each post the last time I looked, so please bare with me and my memory lapses :)
